Dear Villagers turned 2!

Two years ago, on February 28th 2019, our publishing label Dear Villagers was born. Lights on the brand’s journey, from its beginnings to its future projects, as well as our global company strategy in publishing.

Founded in 2012, Plug In Digital started as a bizdev consulting agency growing quickly as a key player of the video games distribution. With many partners looking for more support, Plug In Digital started fullfilling publishers duties as soon as 2014 providing games like Aurion or Dead in Bermuda with marketing funding and support. Publishing was the next natural step in the company growth and in 2017, a first label was launched, Playdius Games, offering a wide-ranging line-up for all platforms.

Playdius released many games on PC, consoles and mobile, forming a very versatile and electic line-up. This first brand allowed to experience several markets, game types and partnerships forms with an extensive portfolio including Hover, Old School Musical, Splasher, AWAY, Dead in Vinland on PC and Consoles and acclaimed narrative titles like Bury My Love or A Normal Lost Phone on mobile. This short but intense experience gave Plug In Digital solid basis for a more editorial-focused offer and a new premium brand: Dear Villagers. This new adventure started on February 28th 2019, strengthening efforts on a clear editorial line, created for PC and consoles only, and an exciting line-up starting with the first two announced partnerships: ScourgeBringer and Recompile.

Last year, Dear Villagers has been publishing two remarkable games which conquered players. Last September, the French editor has released the outstanding, full of fun, strategy and adventures, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos on PC in partnership with Artefacts Studio. A month later, ScourgeBringer came out on PC and consoles. A fast-paced free-moving roguelite platformer from Flying Oak Games that required a lot of… perseverance!

This year, Dear Villagers will release a very exciting line-up: Edge of Eternity, The Forgotten City, Revita, Recompile, consoles versions for The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk, not counting some unannounced surprises!

Dear Villagers just turned 2 and all the team is proud to see its evolution. From 3 employees at the first label’s launch, to more than 15 villagers nowadays, the brand keeps growing and welcome talented people. More people, but also more upcoming games! Dear Villagers has already a very exciting line-up for 2022 and beyond that the team cannot wait to announce!

In addition to Dear Villagers, Plug In Digital wanted to grab the opportunity to publish more games, without any limit of creativity. By the end of 2020, the company has launched PID Publishing, the “baby brother” of Dear Villagers, to offer a wider and more diversified catalog on more platforms, bringing thereby games not only to PC but also on mobile and consoles.

Happy birthday Dear Villagers!
